About us

A masjid at the heart of its community

Masjid Quba, also known as Quba Islamic Centre, serves the Muslim community of Leicester as a place of worship, learning and support.

Who we are

Masjid Quba is a mosque and Islamic centre on Brunswick Street, in the St Matthews area of Leicester, a short walk from the city centre. It is a place where people come to pray, to learn their religion and to find support and companionship.

Our mission is to nurture hearts, educate minds and strengthen the Muslim community through authentic Islamic teachings and a welcoming environment. Our programmes are for all ages and backgrounds, from those taking their first steps in learning to advanced students of knowledge.

The masjid is named after Masjid Qubā in Madinah, the first mosque built by the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

“Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.”
Hadith — al-Bukhari and Muslim
